[It's been a busy month adjusting to space, and Morgan has spent the majority of it exploring the surface of Nariba Relia. As a result, he hasn't had much time to visit his sister, which is starting to nag at him.]
[Especially when he wakes up one morning in late April, and a realization hits him. It's almost his sister's birthday. He might be missing most of his memories from his childhood and of his family, but forget his sister's birthday? He could never forgive himself.]
[On the afternoon of the 20th, he makes his way to the Heron, with a small box in hand. Lucina is pretty reserved, and it's highly unlikely that she's told anybody else in the Fleet. He's here, though, and that means she's not going to spend the day alone.]
[Morgan might not have a problem with booby trapping the common spaces of his ship, but he does respect personal space. When he reaches Lucina's room, he knocks, waiting for her to answer.]
[Lucina spends a good deal of time in her room, it's true. Not that she's feeling sorry for herself. She's trying to learn as much as she can by going through the communication devices and watching the people speak to each other when she can.
It's all still strange to her and she misses Ylisse, her friends, her parents and the animals attached to the army more than she would care to admit. (Although, truth be told, Morgan probably wouldn't be surprised to learn any of it.) She's slowly gotten to know a few handful of people, but she's still rather skittish about strangers.
At the knock, Lucina slides her mask into place and goes to it. Morgan's voice gets a smile to come to her face and she opens the door for her brother easily.]
[Morgan smiles in return as he pulls a small package out of his bag. It's wrapped in rather conservative paper, but it's clear that effort was put in nonetheless.]
[Morgan was afraid that she'd forgotten, but it doesn't matter that she did. He's her little brother, and he's here to remind her!]
Nah, no explosions here. I'd never trap a birthday gift.
[He's being honest. When she opens the box, what she'll find is a small-scale replica of Falchion, created from whatever he could find on Nariba Relia. It's not his best work, but he had fun trying out his engineering augment, and it's close enough to the original that she should be able to tell his intentions, at least.]
I tried making you a cake, too, but that didn't turn out as well. It's hard to find good ingredients in space.
[It's twice as hard because he has almost no experience cooking. Even if he could have found what he needed, it still probably would have resulted in a kitchen fire.]
Yours is soon. We should do something for it. If we're off of this strange, sad system.
[She would really like to be away from a world that basically killed itself with technology. It's not a great comfort at all.
As she opens the package she stops and stares. It's obvious that he attempted to replicate Falchion, which is more touching that she can say. Being without the legendary sword that belonged to both their father and King Marth is hard, very, very hard. She feels like she let them down.
Tears well up in her eyes as she reaches for the replica.]
Can you imagine trying to use this against the Risen? Also, please don't blow up any of the ships, Morgan. I think there are restaurants on the Iskaulit. Let's try that instead.
[See? This is how much he loves his sister. He didn't even trap his own ship, where he knew she wouldn't be going.]
[He smiles sheepishly. It's a thoughtful gift, and he figured she'd like it, but the tears almost catch him off guard. He's starting to feel guilty. Time to change the subject.]
The Iskaulit sounds like a great idea, I'm starving!
[No mention of the fact that she brought up his birthday; he doesn't remember it, and it doesn't seem like a big deal to him. Even though it probably should be.]
[She gives him a smile before wiping her eyes and putting the replica on the shelf above the desk-like area in her bedroom. When she's done, she reaches out to touch his shoulder before pulling him into a hug.
She's certainly not the most demonstrative, but being taken from their friends and family after everyone being reunited, after all they've been through, has been more difficult for her than she can say with words. The fact that Morgan is here has been a part of home that she can use to stay sane.]
Well, if it's my birthday, I think you're the one that should be paying. Have you found out how we earn money here yet?
[Morgan can't help but smile as he responds. Things were weird right now, and he isn't sure what to make of all of this, but having his sister here, and being able to help her out makes him feel a lot better.]
[Plus, he's getting to meet a lot of really interesting people here. That's a win in his book.]
I have a little bit of money. I think the way most people get money here is by earning it on the planets we visit. Nariba Relia didn't have a lot in the way of money, but I was able to sell some stuff I grabbed at the outposts.
Maybe I should invite my entire ship if you're paying.
[And if only those ship mates could see Lucina teasing someone, anyone. Morgan makes her feel like her normal self, someone who doesn't have to always have to be serious and can relax for a moment.]
I... I've been getting a lot of money for some reason. And there was a letter in my room when I woke up. From some person saying they really like my mask.
[She produces the gushing missive, talking about how dreamy and mysterious she is when she wears her mask around the Fleet.]
I... haven't met them all myself, so that might be a problem.
[And one that Morgan shouldn't be surprised to hear. It's not as if Lucina is the friendliest person.]
It was strange to get the letter. [Her eyes go wide as she takes in what her brother is holding.] So it's true that they actually can give us gifts from home. Was there a note with it?
I... don't make friends as easily as you do, Morgan. But I suppose it won't hurt me to try and reach out to others.
[She's too awkward! It's easier to be friends when you grow up with them and you don't have to worry about whether they like you or not because the world is ending.]
'The single light in a universe full of darkness'... Are they ignoring Cynthia then? Are do they mean here, because there seem to be some rather peppy people on the network.
I didn't say it was difficult to learn, Morgan. Just that it's easier for some people.
[She gives her brother a smile, a rare sight for anyone but him and their parents. She can be a dork; it's just not as often as it is for the rest of them.
But, would she kill for a wooden carving of their mother? She sure would.]
Do you really think it impossible? [She foregoes her mask in favor of just leaving her bedroom with Morgan.] You're as much descended from King Marth as I am. And you've heard Lady Tiki talk about him.
[Damn straight. Parents > everyone else. That's how that's always going to be with these two.]
You're also a Prince of Ylisse... and Plegia. Unless you think that you can't be all of that and someone's lover. It only negates our very existence and means that I have to tell both Mother and Father that they've made grave mistakes, but that shouldn't be a big problem. I suppose they'll understand.
backdated to 4/20!

Happy birthday!

It seems that Morgan, however, has definitely remembered.]
I'd forgotten about it.
[She takes the package and looks it over.]
Do I get a hint? It won't explode if I open it, will it?

[He's doesn't know how much money he has, but it's probably enough. And if it isn't, he can just bully somebody else into paying.]
Yeah, I guess that whole thing about them broadcasting us wasn't a joke. It's kind of weird, if you ask me.
[Morgan rustles around in his robe until he pulls something out. It's a very, very familiar looking tome.]
This showed up for me on our ship the other day.

[Like Death! And the dream-eating spirit! And the alien guy!]
Yeah, I got a letter. It was kind of creepy. Whoever it was kept referring to me as "the single light in a universe full of darkness."

[Like learning about secret codes from that totally not creepy old lady in the library. Or learning about time loops from Death.]
I dunno. I mean, Cynthia's not here, so that makes sense? But I don't know why they singled me out.

[Lucina will make friends. Eventually. Maybe.]
Who knows. Maybe this person has a crush on you? You do look like Father.
[And he's rather popular.]

[Become one with the sunshine, Lucina. Become one with the dork. It's in your blood.]
A crush? You really think so?

I mean, I guess? I just never thought of myself as a "crush" kind of guy. I always saw myself more as a friend and future tactician to everyone.
